At school I am working on a comic strip about Odysseus fighting the Cyclops, the one-eyed giant, called Polyphemus. Odysseus escaped by blinding the giant with the sharp point of a tree and then they escaped by hiding underneath the sheep and rams as they went out. Polyphemus just felt the top of the sheep to count them, but didn't feel Odysseus and his men under them and couldn't see them. I am doing the rough copy and editing.
So I finally finished it. The Wise Mans Fear feels very much like the middle part of the trilogy. In it we find Kvothe coming of age to some degree, growing up into some of the harsh realities of life, yet still plagued by his pride and obsession.
Watching the World Cup Rugby today, I thought the Italians played well, even though they lost because at half time it was 6-6. The final score was 32-6 to Australia. The Italians are not ranked highly against Australia, but they defended well and nearly scored quite a bit. What? They did! Lots of teams that are not ranked highly have played really well so far in the World Cup which has made it really exciting! Like Argentina and Tonga and Japan and Namibia...
Late in 2008 I went to Bali to attend a week long regional conference on behalf of my church; Capital Vineyard Christian Fellowship. On the way I stopped in Sydney and bought a book called The Name of the Wind. I found it such a compelling read that I had to almost be dragged away from it to go and enjoy the conference and the beaches of Bali. Now, after 3 years, the sequel has finally been released.
